Description:
The Associate Director of Programs provides leadership in developing, implementing and administering innovative, effective programs that realize the museum's mission and follow the organization's educational framework. They lead the programs team in developing offerings that attract diverse audiences, drive repeat visitation and contribute to the financial stability of the organization by fostering revenue streams. This employee serves on the leadership team to synergize resources to achieve the museum's strategic objectives and future growth.
Responsibilities:
Provide creative and strategic direction in developing high-quality educational programs in a wide variety of formats. Provide oversight of programs staff by coordinating underwriting support, defining program objectives, cultivating and maintaining necessary partnerships, and overseeing budget development and adherence
• Plays a key role in developing new audiences, conceptualizing new programs, adapting current programs to meet new audience needs and expanding the capacity of the organization to both deliver our mission and remain financially stable.
• Mentors an entrepreneurial approach to program development and management that maximizes the earned income business model.
• Provides leadership in developing and implementing strategies to infuse innovative informal science learning throughout all museum program experiences to achieve the Museum's Science, Technology, Engineering, art and Math (STEaM)-focused approach. Education and Experience:
Bachelors Degree in Education, Museum Studies, the sciences, or related field
• Preferred qualifications: Master's degree in related field of study or equivalent combination of experience and education.
Skills:
Experience in informal learning settings
• 5+ Experience managing staff and volunteers
• 5+ years experience successfully developing and managing large-scale educational programs from start to finish. Proven success in developing revenue-generating programs.
