Description: Internships – Overview

Internships at the List Visual Arts Center are created for graduate students, undergraduates, and recent graduates who are interested in discovering more about museum work while contributing essential assistance to List Center staff in a dynamic, stimulating, and intellectually rich work environment. Internships are available for college credit, if applicable.

As a List Center Intern you might work in one or multiple of the following areas:

  • Public relations
  • Digital Marketing
  • Curatorial
  • Development
  • Collections management
  • Arts education
  • Community outreach 

Past Intern responsibilities have included:

  • Public relations: Drafting press releases and fundraising proposals
  • Curatorial: Assisting in producing major exhibitions and publications
  • Collections management: Researching artists for the permanent collection
  • Arts education: Developing and facilitating education programs
  • Design: Designing print and digital materials including major signage, brochures, and posters

Internship applications are accepted on an on-going basis. Please email your resume and a cover letter that provides an overview of your skills and/or specifies which areas of museum work you are interested in.

Send it to mitlistarts@mit.edu with your departmental preference  in the subject line.  For example, if you are applying for a curatorial internship please list Curatorial in the subject line.
