Degree Required: BA/BS/Undergraduate

Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA

Just as MIT pushes at the frontiers of scientific inquiry, it is the mission of the List Visual Arts Center, located on the campus of MIT, to explore challenging, intellectually inquisitive, contemporary art making in all media.

The List Center is pleased to announce its inaugural Curatorial Fellowship position. This is a twelve-month position for an emerging curator who wishes to gain experience in a contemporary art setting. The Curatorial Fellow will work with the Curator, Assistant Curator, and other staff on several elements of contemporary curatorial practice, including exhibitions and artist research, organizing and implementing public programs, writing and editing texts for galleries, publications and the media, and acquiring rights and reproductions for online and printed pieces. In addition to contributing to the exhibition program, the Curatorial Fellow will work with the Institute’s public art collection and assist with the annual Student Loan Art Program.

Requirements:
Applicants must be in their final year of graduate school or be a recent graduate with a master’s degree in art history, curatorial studies, or a related field, with a focus in contemporary art. They must be authorized to work in the US.

Candidates passing the initial screening will be asked to submit:

• letters of recommendation from academic and/or professional settings;

• one academic paper; and

• an academic transcript showing a concentration in contemporary art.

Application Instructions:
To apply, please submit a cover letter (including a brief description of the applicant’s interest in contemporary art and academic and professional goals) and a resume, via MIT’s online application system at http://jobs.mit.edu/ by August 15, 2013.

It is hoped that this inaugural fellowship may begin on October 1.
