Description:
Atlanta-based Premier Exhibitions, Inc. is a fast-growing publicly traded company (NASDAQ:PRXI) in the business of developing and touring museum-quality exhibitions globally. Premier's most active brands are Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition and Bodies: The Exhibition. The company is seeking a highly qualified Registrar who is extremely organized, proactive, energetic, and who is willing to travel and work with production teams from a base in Atlanta, GA.
Responsibilities:
Require academic, analytical and physical attention to the following elements:
• Daily operations of the Atlanta storage facility.
• Maintenance and intellectual control of the collections and associated databases.
• Accessioning, cataloguing, and maintenance of collections.
• Tracking location, exhibition placement and condition of specimens and artifacts
• Preparing and archiving all required documents from past, present and future exhibitions.
• Interact with other departments in preparation of exhibition content and presentation
• Work may require occasional travel to provide onsite support at touring exhibition venues
• Direct associate registrars, preparator, and collections technician, as well as additional staff during installations and deinstallion of exhibitions.
• Plan and execute exhibition installations and deinstallations
• Training of staff, contractors, and volunteers.
• Assist Curators with departmental projects.
Educational Requirements:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in museum studies, museum sciences, anthropology, or related field.
• 3-5 years registration experience preferred in a supervisory position.
Skills:
Knowledge of legal issues associated with collections management beneficial.
• Proficiency with collections database systems, (FileMaker pro - a plus) Microsoft Office Suite, digital photography and scanning.
• Strong interpersonal, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to work with a diverse collegial community in a flexible environment.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with strict deadlines and manage several projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge and skill in handling, moving, and packing fragile artifacts and specimens.
• Must be able to work independently and/or collaboratively with other departments and venues to achieve overall goals and objectives.
• A willingness to learn, educate, and adapt while maintaining standards of best practices.
• Familiarity with video editing software (Vegas) - a plus
• Public speaking capabilities and knowledge of a foreign language are a plus
