The Arkell Museum at Canajoharie, scheduled to open September 23, today announced the launch of its new Web site, available at www.arkellmuseum.org.

The Arkell Museum at Canajoharie, scheduled to open September 23, today announced the launch of its new Web site, available at www.arkellmuseum.org.

The Web site provides a preview of upcoming exhibitions and insight into The Arkell's rich collection of American art. Web site visitors can view examples of the museum's remarkable permanent collection of works by Winslow Homer and American Impressionist artists, as well as Beech-Nut archives and Mohawk Valley photographs. Grand opening events and listings of workshops, school programs, family discovery days, festivals, film series and concerts will also be available online

"While we put the finishing touches on the museum, we encourage everyone to visit the new Web site to learn about our upcoming exhibits, programs and events — and to get excited about the grand opening," said Eric Trahan, The Arkell's executive director. "We also hope our future guests will use our new Web site as a portal to enhance their experience of the American art and regional history that will be on full display once the museum opens."

The Arkell, a 30,000-square-foot art and history museum located in downtown Canajoharie and three blocks from New York State Thruway exit 29, is currently in the final stages of preparation and is scheduled to open on September 23, 2007. The new facility, built in partnership with the Arkell Foundation, transforms what was once a small gallery within a library into a destination museum featuring changing exhibitions drawn from the museum's internationally known collection and borrowed from other notable collections.
